I never imagined a major town in South Wales could be so run down. I checked out of the accomodation a day early and found myself in the High Street around 0830. I had an hour or so here before my train out of town and I saw nothing of interest to a visitor.

First time in Wales for me.
First time in Wales for me. Everywhere we went met with friendly people. Even the girl in Next chatted while serving me and laughed with me about my day.Family meal (14 of us) at TGF. Made welcome and served with a smile all evening.
Coffee shops also had staff interested in our stories.
Pity we live in Perth with 8 hour drive as liked people and places and a return trip maybe when newlyweds have family

The room was good, the pool was out of commission which spoiled the weekend because that made the jacuzzi impossible to gain entrance to due to the amount of people being let down on the pool. Food was perfect.

There is a lot to like about Newport and the surrounding countryside. My favourite feature is without doubt the famous 'Transporter Bridge'. You have the choice of numerous venues for both Rugby and Football matches and a great selection of local Parkruns.
We have never had a problem with the hotel's breakfast, assuming all normal health and safety precautions were in place. On one of our last mornings at the hotel we saw another guest inadvertently drop a fried tomato onto the floor below the breakfast bar, scoop it up and leave it for clean-up the side of the buffet, away from hot food... then just a moment later watched one of the male breakfast staff return it with tongs to the full tray of hot tomatoes in the buffet. Why?
Coldra Court Hotel ticks all the boxes for me, the rooms are spacious, clean well thought out. Having a swimming pool is a huge bonus. This visit did not include swimming having travelled to London then Wales I was too tired. The bar is comfortable and the restaurant is very good, the breakfast is excellent with a very good choice.
Walls had dirty marks, cracks in the bathroom sink the boulder cushion on the bed had a stain, balcony was covered in algae, breakfast was nothing like it was 10yrs ago , was like a premier Inn, standards have definitely gone down here to point we won't ever come back, better valued hotels with a wow factor on the market now ,
The hotel looks quite charming from the outside with the flowers the little chickens running around freely it was quite cute and def had it's charm

The bed was the most comfortable hotel bed I've ever slept in! If not the most comfortable bed ever! My boyfriend and I slept exceptionally well :) the staff were so lovely as well. I would recommend staying here if you're ever in Newport.
Location from the motorway and also access to the major towns in south wales. Rooms were big enough and very clean. Decor in rooms was very dated and in need of redecoration. Public areas in Hotel were very nice, clean and modern.
